Since my last blog, I watched more online classes on inbound marketing and then on Thursday Mekhi and I went into Boston to Hubspot and met with out mentor; Mark Roberge. Mark is the Vice President of Worldwide Sales for hubspot. This means he is the top sales guy for Hubspot and he was actually the first sales guy when it was started. We sat down for about an hour and a half with Mark and talked about our schedule for the upcoming weeks and when we will be in the office learning and getting certified in inbound marketing. Most importantly though, we talked with Mark about how he got started with Hubspot, how it turned into such a valuable company and what got him where he is today which was very interesting to learn about. He also talked about how he went to MIT to get his MBA after he had gotten his undergraduate degree in engineering. After this he went to Hubspot with his two friends; Darmesh and Brian who founded the company. From there they started Hubspot and through about ten years it has developed into the most valuable inbound marketing company in the US and most likely the world. Currently, Hubspot just went public six months ago and their stock trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the the symbol HUBS. Mark also recently wrote a book called The Sales Acceleration Formula.
